Nailing into wood

Before you hammer your nail, flip it over and place the nail head on a hard surface. Hit the tip of the nail a few times to make it blunt. This prevents the wood from splitting.

 Standing rain water in house or garage

If you have water entering your house or garage due to excess rain, locate the entry point from the exterior.  Purchase 2 or 3 bags of playsand from Lowes or HomeDepot. Open one bag and poor it around the area. Place the other bags over the sand to stop additional rain from washing the sand away. This will buy some time to let a Handyman resolve your issue.

Need to measure something?

If you cant find your tape measure or ruler, try using a dollar bill.

 Remember that a dollar bill is 6¼ inches long. That's about a half a foot, right? If you fold it in half, it's 3 inches the wide way, or 1¼ inches the narrow way. This works great for items that are a couple of feet across.

 Mold Handeling

When mold or the substrate that it is growing on is wet, leave it alone. Fix the moisture issue and let it dry. Moving mold when its wet releases spores into the air allowing mold to find new places to grow. Most mold issues can be killed with a 10 to 1 water and Bleach mixture. So......

When its wet, leave it alone.

When it dry, remove from your home.
